'Bizarre Foods' Host to Conduct Seafood Demos at Pine Market District on Saturday

Travel Channel's Andrew Zimmern is an award-winning TV personality, chef, food writer and teacher.

James Beard Award-winning TV personality, chef, food writer, teacher and host of Travel Channel’s hit series, Bizarre FoodsAndrew Zimmern will make a guest appearance with seafood demonstrations at Township of Pine Market District at noon on Saturday.

Zimmern’s appearance is free to the public. Details and advance reservations can be made at www.marketdistrict.com. Tickets are still available.

New York born and raised, Zimmern began his formal culinary training at 14. He attended theDalton School as a young boy and graduated from Vassar College.

He is the co-creator, host and consulting producer of Travel Channel’s hit series, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern and Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World. He shows his viewers food from all over the world. From street carts to world-class restaurants, for Zimmern it is all about experiencing it authentically.

“Please be a traveler, not a tourist. Try new things, meet new people, and look beyond what’s right in front of you,” Zimmern said. “Those are the keys to understanding this amazing world we live in.”

In May 2010 Zimmern won the James Beard Award for “Outstanding Television Food Personality.” He has also received an Effie for his online series, “Toyota’s Appetite for Life.” Zimmern uses his love for adventure and constant challenges in his work along with his appetite.

Zimmern is also a successful freelance writer. He is the contributing editor at Food & Wine Magazinean award-winning monthly columnist at Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine and senior editor at Delta Sky MagazineHis work has been featured in national and international publications.

Zimmern stood as a corporate and product spokesperson for , Cascal, Pepto Bismol, Toyota and Travel Leaders. He is the author of The Bizarre Truth, and Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World of Food and has several books set for release later this year.
