Several residents in Forest Hills, Swissvale and Wilkinsburg are without power Wednesday night.
A string of strong thunderstorms are sweeping through the area.
According to Duquesne Light, 200 customers in Forest Hills and 50 customers in each Swissvale and Wilkinsburg were without power as of 7 p.m.
Spokesman Joseph Vallarian said a total of 16,500 customers lost power.
He said crews are in the process of assessing damage, and concurrently restoring service. Also, company representatives at the company's Operations Center are using the automated switching systems to attempt to bring customers back on line where possible.
