“Reed Dance Intensive”

Lovers of visual art and dance will have the opportunity to experience educationally uplifting classes with three themed workshops running through the summer. The workshops are called “Green Artists,” “Reed Dance Intensive,” and “Watercolor: Figurative Design.”   Workshops will be held between July 9 to August 23, 2012, at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Arts Education Center. located at 805-807 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.  For workshop registration and information. visit trustarts.org or call 412-456-6666.

About the Workshops

Led by award winning teacher, Alison Babusci, the “Green Artists” workshop will create art and teach students how to help save the Earth! Classes will focus on drawing, building, weaving and painting with the use of recyclables from everyday life in combination with traditional art materials. Students will collaborate and experiment together while learning creative ways to make beautiful art with objects destined for the garbage!  The Green Artists classes will run everyday from July 23 – 27. 
Grades: 5 - 8 Time: 10 - 2pm.

Reed Dance Intensive” was developed and designed by renowned dancer and choreographer, Greer Reed. This workshop will provide a rigorous, two-week course of study with dynamic, professional teaching artists.  The two-week program will conclude with an informal public performance/demonstration, in a professional theater environment. The Reed Dance Intensive course will start on July 9 and end on July 20, 2012 - Ages 10-14. Classes are everyday from 9 am to 4:15 pm.  
The July 21, 2012 student performance starts at 2pm.

Watercolor: Figurative Design” is a 4 day workshop that will feature group and personal instruction, demos, critiques and ample painting time with Jeannie McGuire, the 2011 American Watercolor Society's Gold Medal Winner. McGuire will encourage and challenge artists to communicate a story or feeling in their paintings and create strong figurative works of art in watercolor.  She will also provide demonstrations, hold candid conversations and provide individual instruction as well as her thoughts on the versatility of watercolor when employing a higher ratio of pigment to water. The Watercolor: Figurative Design classes will run Monday, August 20 to Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 9 am - 4 pm. 
All levels of experience will be embraced, beginners should have some artistic know-how; 18 years and up.
