Wilkinsburg Youth Food Program Receives Grant

Local organizations come together for program fighting hunger.

The Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation awarded a$3,000 grant to the Wilkinsburg Community Ministry and the Wilkinsburg Boys and Girls Club to support a Youth Meal Partnership program for the summer of 2011.

This support allowed program to provide hot meals for approximately 60 youth aged five to 13 who are enrolled in the Wilkinsburg Boys and Girls Club summer program. Meals included both breakfast and hot lunches.

The Boys and Girls Club of Wilkinsburg programs provide educational and positive youth development opportunities. The meals WCM provide to the youth in these programs are fundamental to their health and enable the program to focus on educational and physical activities for the youth.
