Washington Street Bridge Sidewalks Closed in Swissvale

A temporary sidewalk will be constructed on the north side of the bridge.

Swissvale police have issued a warning to businesses and residents that the Washington Street Bridge pedestrian sidewalks will be closed for an undetermined period of time after a safety inspection showed they are unsafe.

The roadway will remain open to vehicular traffic. A temporary sidewalk will be constructed for pedestrian use on the north side of the bridge until further notice.

Borough officials issued an apology for any inconvenience, and thanked residents and merchants in advance for their cooperation and understanding.
