Swissvale Library Hosts Bake Sale Beginning Today

What's more fun than an Easter egg hunt? We might have an answer—the annual spring book and bake sale, which starts today and runs through April 14 at the .

The annual event, held by Friends of Swissvale Library, raises funds for library improvements. In addition to bargain-priced books and VHS tapes, the sale will feature home-baked cookies, brownies, muffins, and other goodies, hand-knitted items by Pam Schmidbauer and Donna Deppmeyer, and original artwork by Linda O’Toole. 

Gift basket drawings will be held Saturday.

“Our spring fundraiser is a popular event that folks in the community look forward to each year,” said Friends of Swissvale Library president Sharon Ramsey. “Everything is high quality and very reasonably priced, and the funds we raise go a long way to supporting a valuable community resource.”

Book lovers will find fiction, non-fiction, classics, literature, reference, and cookbooks, plus children’s books. “On Saturday, you can fill a big bag with books for just $2,” Ramsey says. “Of course, the earlier you come, the better the selection, and things sell fast.”

Hours are today, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
