Regent Square Teens Beat the Heat with Fun on the Street

Walk down South Braddock Avenue tonight and you might get a "free hug!"

Local teenagers decided that if they couldn't beat the heat, they at least wanted a little sympathy.

Katie Hazen, 14, Kendel Kerr, 13, both of Regent Square, joined their friend Perry Russen-Morohovich, 14, of Mt. Washington in holding a multi-colored sign that stated, "Honk if you're HOT!" Saturday night at the corner of South Braddock and Hutchinson avenues.

Evan Neely, 14, of Regent Square walked past outdoor restaurant-goers along South Braddock Avenue with arms outstretched and a shirt that read, "Free Hugs," with a big smile. Neighbors laughed as he walked by, with some taking him up on the offer.
