Churches Hold 9/11 Services

This weekend, area churches are offering services dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

  • is hosting guest speaker Judy Colfer of Greensburg, who escaped the World Trade Center in New York on 9/11. It was Colfer’s first trip to New York City for business, and she was saved with the help of many New York City firefighters and emergency workers. The service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.
  • in Regent Square is offering its service on Sunday at 11 a.m. The sanctuary at the church will be filled with 2,974 origami peace with the name of each victim written on each wing.
  •  of is offering a Taize Prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday. Taize Prayer is a meditative service with music, including guitar, viola and keyboard. The September 11 Taize will include a litany of remembrance and the opportunity for individual prayer. The service is an hour and is followed by refreshments.
