Christ Lutheran School Gives a Hand to Ronald McDonald House

See how these local students and teachers gave back to those in need.

Students and staff at Christ Lutheran School in Forest Hills got together to help families in need.

During the month of February, the students and staff collected their chapel offerings for the Ronald McDonald House in Pittsburgh. Their goal was to "Stuff a Crib."

A variety of things were collected such as pantry items, paper products for the kitchen and travel size personal hygiene items. A Pack 'n Play also was purchased with the monetary donations that were collected.

The students also participated in a can tab collection contest. Each class collected can tabs for the entire month and tabs were weighed. A total of 28 pounds of tabs were collected—about 44,500 tabs.

The seventh and eighth grades won the contest by bringing in more than half of the tabs that were collected.

"We thank God for our good health and are very blessed to help the families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House," said teacher Lori McKenzie.
