East Liberty's loss will be a sweet gain for Regent Square.

Vanilla Pastry Studio, a popular bakery in East Liberty, plans to open its doors on the Swissvale side of South Braddock Avenue in the spring.

"There are often tough decisions to be made in even the sweetest of businesses...while we will be somewhat sad to leave our current home in East Liberty, we are thrilled to announce that beginning in early spring, Vanilla will be located in Regent Square," the shop's Facebook page announced Tuesday.

The shop will relocate to a new space adjacent to Typhoon Lighting and across the street from Square Cafe. In addition to parking spaces, there will also be more space that will allow the shop to offer cupcake decorating parties.

Patch was unable to reach the owner of Vanilla for comment.
