Patch All-Star Kids: Harry (Zihao) Qin

Check out this week's All-Star kid!

Woodland Hills High School’s Harry (Zihao) Qin is a Chinese exchange student succeeding on the basketball court and in the classroom.

Accomplishment: Harry Qin, whose Chinese name is Zihao, is a foreign exchange student from Nanjing, China. He came to the United States through a yearlong exchange program sponsored by an organization called Youth For Understanding. He plays on the Junior Varsity basketball team and makes great grades. He’s worked hard to improve his English and to immerse himself in this new culture.

All-Star Kid's Key to Awesomeness: “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to come to America for university,” Qin said. He believes in trying his hardest and never giving up. He manages to successfully balance schoolwork and playing on the basketball team. After-school sports are a whole new world to Qin, who says his school in China didn’t offer after-school activities. “It’s a great thing to be able to do,” Qin said. “We have good players and good coaches -- I like it a lot.”
