Outbound Squirrel Hill Tunnel Single Lane Tuesday and Thursday Nights
Crews will be conducting preliminary activities for rehabilitation work set to occur in the outbound tunnel next year.
Traffic in the outbound Squirrel Hill Tunnel (eastbound) on the Parkway East (I-376) will be reduced to a single lane on Tuesday and Thursday nights, Sept. 25 and 27.
Single lane traffic will occur from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. both nights in the outbound tunnel, according to PennDOT spokesman Jim Struzzi. Crews will be conducting preliminary activities for rehabilitation work set to occur in the outbound tunnel next year.
Motorists are advised to use caution and allow extra time when traveling through the area.
The work is part of the $49.5 million Squirrel Hill Tunnel rehabilitation project. Overall work will conclude in summer 2014. The prime contractor is the Walsh Construction Co. of Canonsburg.
