News Nearby: Squirrel Hill Eat'n Park Has Chic Urban Makeover

Eat’n Park Restaurants held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday to unveil its newly remodeled Squirrel Hill location on Murray Avenue.

Just minutes from Regent Square, the restaurant has been completely made over in an urban-chic style that combines the strength of Eat’n Park’s restaurants with some of the style and décor of Eat’n Park Hospitality Group’s newer concept restaurants, such as Six Penn Kitchen, The Porch at Schenley and Hello Bistro.

“We’ve been part of the Squirrel Hill community for 35 years,” said Kevin O’Connell, senior vice president of marketing for Eat’n Park Restaurants. “The total remodel of our Squirrel Hill restaurant reflects our commitment to the community, our plans for a long-term future in Squirrel Hill and an ongoing desire to best meet the needs of the guests in the communities we serve.”

Guests immediately will notice an entirely new front of the restaurant, now covered with stone. Stone accents are carried throughout the interior.

Upon entering, guests can choose to be seated at a newly installed counter where they can watch TV while they dine and enjoy the fireplace, or they can choose to be seated in the general dining area with its new booths, tables and chairs, brighter lights and over-sized garage doors that open onto the Murray Avenue sidewalk. Guests can also opt to dine in the outdoor café setting.

For guests on the run, the Squirrel Hill Eat’n Park now has a takeout station. Guests can choose anything on the menu, call in their order ahead of time and it will be ready for pick up when they walk into the restaurant.

“Our new takeout station provides a convenient option for our guests,”  O’Connell said in a press release. “More and more, people are looking for better dining options on the go, and Eat’n Park aims to make the takeout experience easy and stress-free.”

Eat’n Park has been a part of the Squirrel Hill community since 1977 and supports local nonprofit and community organizations, including Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Every Child, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Dinwiddie Community Alliance, Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, Shady Side Academy and the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition.
