A 35-year-old man is dead following a shooting incident about 11 p.m. Tuesday evening in the 1100 block of Franklin Avenue in Wilkinsburg.

Wilkinsburg police were dispatched to the scene in response to several 911 calls about a shooting. There they found a black male suffering from a single gunshot wound, according to a press release issued by Lt. Andrew Schurman of the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit.

"Through the course of the investigation homicide detectives learned that the victim had been playing dominos with friends on a second floor covered portico," Schurman said in the press release. "During a break in play, the victim decided to urinate over the side railing. A voice was heard from below, yelling 'Yo! Yo!' Then several shots rang out and the victim collapsed."

The shooter would have been positioned between 1107 and 1111 Franklin Ave., Schurman said. According to neighbors, this path between the houses is routinely used as a cut through to the street to the rear.
