The 10th season of the Forest Hills Farmers Market starts this Friday with a full slate of vendors offering everything from flowers to fresh meats and more.
Held at the Forest Hills Presbyterian Church parking lot on Ardmore Boulevard, the market is open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Friday through Oct. 26.
New vendors this year include Sand Hill Berries, a winery from Mt. Pleasant, along with Mish Farms of Gibsonia, which will bring fresh meat that includes chicken, beef, pork and other selections.
The market was started by the Late Bloomers Garden Club of Forest Hills.
Ariana Say of Forest Hills is a member and said she looks forward to the market every year.
“We will have music this year by Ken Thompson who plays guitar, and they’re looking for more people to come down and play,” say said.
Jeff and Cindy Berkowitz of Intuitive Holistic Health will be at the market each week to share a new recipe that they will cook on site. Samples will be offered along with copies of the recipes, which will focus on healthful eating.
“The church is joining us this year and once a month they will have food you can purchase—the first one will be baseball day with hot dogs,” Say said.
Say is looking forward to seeing new faces and old.
“I always like it when someone new comes and you know they’ve heard it word of mouth or drove by the tent,” she said. “This is our 10th season and I can’t believe it—the first 9 years have gone by so fast.”

I've missed the Farmers Market over the winter! I've been going since the first season. And, I believe Sand Hill Berries (listed in the article as new) has also been there from the start, or close to it. They are one of my favorite vendors. We enjoy their fresh berries and pies every year.
