East Pittsburgh Man Waives Hearing on Multiple Charges in Hit-And-Run Accident with House
Two DUIs round up Judge Caulfield's caseload for the week of Oct. 22.
Kink D. Sarafis, 32, of East Pittsburgh, waived his right for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Thomas Caulfield on Oct. 24 on a number of charges stemming from an accident in Chalfant.
According to the criminal complaint, Sarafis drove a truck into a house on North Avenue and fled at around 1 a.m. Aug. 1. Police found the truck near the Electric Avenue Café, but could not locate Sarafis.
Later that day, according to the complaint, Sarafis went to Forest Hills police station, and turned himself in. He is charged with accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, three counts of recklessly endangering the occupants in the house and reckless driving.
The formal arraignment will take place Dec. 12.
In other cases handled by Caulfield on Oct. 24:
- Jamar Fleming, 32, of Pittsburgh waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of driving under the influence-general impairment (blood alcohol content .08 to .10, first offense) on July 21. Forest Hills police filed the charges after Fleming failed a field sobriety test at a check DUI checkpoint in the 2000 block of Ardmore Boulevard.
- Alexandra Starr, 47, of Latrobe waived her right to a preliminary hearing on several charges related to driving under the influence-high rate of alcohol (blood alcohol content .10 to .159, first offense). According to the criminal complaint filed by Forest Hills police, an officer spotted Starr driving erratically on Ardmore Boulevard at around 2:30 a.m. Sept. 2. She is also charged with disregarding traffic lane.
