Drug Deal Led to Braddock Hills Shooting, Police Say

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting Brandon Johns died after exchanging gunfire with one of the three men who allegedly attempted to rob him of the marijuana he sold from his grandmother's apartment in Braddock Hills.

Eugene "Gene" McCarthy, 23, of Clairton has been charged by Allegheny County police with homicide, robbery, tampering with evidence and conspiracy in connection with his Johns' death. Read more here about details of what happened during the encounter.

Johns' recent Twitter feed showed references to drugs, guns and money. But he also mentioned that he loved his family and he had a dog among the pictures on Twitter.
