Courts: Priest Charged with Child Porn, DUI & Burglary Arrests

The following cases recently were heard by in :

Bart Sorenson, 62, of Churchill waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of three counts of possession of child pornography. The priest had been the pastor at St. John Fisher Church for three weeks. Monica Fisher, an employee, told police that she saw him looking at a picture of a boy wearing only a T-shirt and posed on all fours with the words, “Hottie Boys,” written across the screen after walking into his office on Dec. 12, according to court documents. Fisher reported that for the past three weeks, Sorenson had spent hours on the computer with the door closed. Police confiscated CDs from his office and found more than 5,000 images of child pornography. Sorenson told police he has been looking at child porn for 10 years.

Justin John May, 37, of Pittsburgh waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of receiving stolen property, possession of an instrument of crime and driving with a suspended license. Forest Hills police arrested him after a traffic stop on Beulah Road. May said the vehicle belonged to his sister-in-law and was stolen from the North Side.

Donna Cara Martin, 58, of Churchill waived her right to a preliminary hearing on charges of accidental damage to an unattended vehicle and two counts of driving under the influence. Wilkins police were called to an accident with no injuries at 949 Rita. The caller’s boyfriend’s car was run into and Martin was found to have slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, according to court documents.

Michael Lee Johnson, 18, of Wilkinsburg waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of receiving stolen property and possession with intent to deliver. police were called to a burglary in progress Nov. 9 on West Hutchinson. The suspect reportedly was carrying a flat screen TV. Police found a man matching the victim’s description walking on Pennwood Avenue. They later also found marijuana on his person. Johnson told police he took the TV.

Andrew Michael Novak, 25, of Bobtown waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of criminal use of a communication facility, criminal conspiracy and two counts of manufacturing with intent to deliver. On Aug. 26, an undercover Wilkins police officer set up a time to meet Novak at Sheetz to buy Oxycodone pills. After the exchange occurred, police moved in and arrested Novak.

Odell Kenneth Miller, III, 28, of Churchill waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of disorderly conduct, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, driving without a license and driving with a suspended license. He was arrested Aug. 18 after a traffic stop initiated by Churchill police. He got out of the car and started screaming to police that he had something in his possession without being specific. Police ordered him to the ground and he refused. Police also found a gun in the car, according to court documents.

Jeffrey McClure, 28, of Plum waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Forest Hills police arrested him Nov. 14 after receiving a report of missing items Oct. 10. He had been working at a relative’s home and reportedly stole a ring.

David Nicholas Bonda, 29, of Coraopolis waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Bonda, an ex-Wilkins Township Department of Public Works employee, was charged by Wilkins police with stealing manhole covers and storm grates. He later told police he did it, according to court documents.
