Black 47 Band Member at The Map Room Thursday

Don't miss this event in Regent Square!

Larry Kirwan, leader of Black 47, will be playing a solo "Rock & Read" show at The Map Room at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Kirwan will read from his novels, "Liverpool Fantasy" (based on if the Beatles hadn't made it) and "Rockin' The Bronx," as well as from his memoir, "Green Suede Shoes."

He also will perform relevant Black 47 songs acoustically.

Kirwan is the leader, singer/guitarist and composer for the Irish-American rock band Black 47. Black 47 has released 15 CDs for both major and independent labels. The band has appeared on Jay Leno, David Letterman and Conan O’Brien and has been profiled in most major magazines and newspapers in the United States.

Their album, Trouble in the Land, was voted the "top album of the decade" by readers of www.Irishcentral.com.

"Bankers and Gangsters," Black 47’s latest CD, was released in March by UFO Music. The band has appeared in Saint of Fort Washington with Matt Dillon and Danny Glover and has written music for many movies and TV shows.

Kirwan has also recorded "Kilroy Was Here" and "Keltic Kids" as solo efforts.
