Back-to-School Times Changing for Woodland Hills
Only the high school remains the same as last year for arrival and departure times.
Parents take note: When Woodland Hills public school students start back to school on Monday, Aug. 27, there will be some changes in the arrival and departure times.
Woodland Hills Academy students will report at 7:40 a.m. and will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m. Woodland Hills Junior High students report at 7:30 a.m. and are dismissed at 2:50 p.m.
The starting time for the five elementary schools—Edgewood, Fairless, Shaffer, Dickson and Wilkins—will be 8:40 a.m. Those schools will be dismissed at 3:40 p.m.
There is no change in the Woodland Hills High School schedule this year. Students will arrive by 6:45 a.m. and will be dismissed at 2:05 p.m.

Woodland Hills HS did NOT start at 6:45am last year. It started at 7:05ish and that was too early. If we want our children to do better on standardized testing, and to be prepared to learn, we should all be more upset that the school board has voted to once again start school earlier. Not sure how that saves money (although that is the reason) but maybe we should pay attention instead to study after study that recommend teenagers need more sleep, not less and would do better starting later. In Japan children start school at 9am....lets compare success in schools here and there.

Gail, I believe the arrival time by bus is different than the actual starting time for all these schools.
