Allegheny County Holding Fire Prevention & Safety Fair

Numerous first responders, medics, 911 dispatchers and other organizations will be at the fair.

 

Allegheny County is planning a fire prevention and safety fair Oct. 6 at the county airport in West Mifflin.

The event, which kicks off the Fire Prevention Week, goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to the public.

Numerous first responders, medics, 911 dispatchers and other organizations will be at the fair.

Allegheny County Emergency Services Chief Alvin Henderson called the event a “day of fun and learning.”

“The Allegheny County Fire Prevention Week Kick-Off and Health & Safety Fair will feature demonstrations, activities and lots of great information to protect our neighborhoods and help make our families safer,” he said in a press release.

Below is a list of all the organizations that will be at the fair…

  • Allegheny County 9-1-1 Mobile Training Unit education and giveaways
  • Allegheny County Emergency Services canine demonstrations, canine CPR, search and rescue dogs, and cadaver dogs
  • Allegheny County Juvenile Firesetters Intervention Team fire education and giveaways
  • Allegheny County Police talking police car and child digital fingerprinting
  • Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s accelerant detection dog, Coal, and new accelerant puppy-in-training, Diesel
  • Dravosburg Fire Department’s Sparky the Dog
  • EQT’s Freddie the Flame mascot
  • Face painting courtesy of Hope Worldwide
  • Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department Smoke House where people will practice exiting from a smoky house
  • Public safety equipment and apparatus displays from various agencies and municipalities
  • UPMC health screenings
  • West Mifflin Police Department child fingerprinting
  • Allegheny County Council
  • Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office
  • Allegheny County Medical Examiner Forensic Lab Division
  • Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office
  • American Red Cross
  • Baldwin Emergency Medical Services
  • Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission
  • Public safety agencies from Dravosburg, Duquesne, Glassport and McKeesport
  • Salvation Army
  • West Mifflin Fire Department
  • West Penn Burn Center
